Sea of Tranquility

And I make it just in time for the Sonic-Club Summer Vacation contest with only 2 hours, 58 minutes and 31 seconds to spare.

Oh boy. I had such plans for this piece. But unfortunately, I ended up having to cut so much of it out lest I not make it in time. Oh well. Maybe I'll redo it later.

I don't think I really had to rush it (because I cut so many characters out), but I still feel I could have added so much more detail. The spacesuits are one place. That said, the idea is a simple, self contained unit with minimal outer tubing, so I guess that's okay.

I looked through the previous submissions for the contest and everyone either picked going to the sea or going camping. Since I bend so easily to trends, I decided that I too shall set my piece at the sea. But not just any sea. Moon seas!

Previously, the dark areas on the moon (top right corner here) were once thought to have had water in them, thus were called seas. We now know they are areas where lava once flowed, perhaps during the formation of the moon. The Sean of Tranquility is the landing site of Apollo 11 where humankind first stepped on the moon.

So Tails and Cream are here exploring a micro crater left behind by a small meteorite. What are those samples they are examining? Remnants of the meteorite? Igneous rock samples from the sea? You decide.

As for the space suits. I know that both the video games and Sonic X have showed it, very clearly, that the Sonic gang does not need them. I don't care. For me, there is no space without a suit.
